A la Carte Maps provide a unique approach to traveling by combining guidebook, city map and piece of art in one. The concept is simple: Imagine you had a local friend who has written the city's best-kept insider tips on this beautiful hand-drawn map. Gizi’s new map of Sudan and South Sudan shows each country as separate at 1:2,500,000 scale and with a detailed index of placenames provided on the backside. The legend is described in multiple languages including English. In the characteristic Gizi style the map provides an excellent representation of the terrain and a colorful picture of the region’s geography. Altitude coloring is vibrant and includes the names of peaks and mountain ranges as well as graphics for flood plains, swamps, salt flats, deserts, lava fields, wadis and water wells. National parks, protected areas and interesting natural sites are also highlighted.

The map includes the boundary of the disputed Abyei region as well as the administrative boundaries and names of the provinces. North Sudan towns and provinces are given in Arabic. Where applicable, alternative versions of town names are provided (Khartoum/Al Khartum, Omdurman/Umm Durman, etc).

The map includes large, clear street plans of Khartoum and Juba, annotated with places of interest and facilities. The map details road networks including desert tracks and indicates distances on main routes and the locations of border crossings. Railway lines and airports are marked, and the ferry connection on the Nile between Aswan and Wadi Halfa is shown. UNESCO World Heritage sites, pyramids, archaeological remains, and other places of interest are highlighted and areas of oil extraction and oil pipelines are shown. The map has latitude and longitude lines at intervals of 1°.
